We also seek to bring visitors into Nursery to reinforce the children's learning of the curriculum through these themes.  Examples include having firefighters and police officers come in to Nursery to talk to the children during the ‘People who help us’ topic and having a ‘mobile farm’ bring farm animals into our outdoor area during our ‘On the Farm’ topic.  We also hope to offer the children the option of at least one school trip before the end of the academic year.

Nursery children are also included in our ‘Over & Above’ programme.  As part of this, they will have the opportunity to see live theatre in the form of a theatrical group coming into school.

The curriculum is delivered through a range of creative, malleable, imaginative, mathematical, physical and social learning experiences, as well as encouraging the children’s early writing, letter recognition and reading.  These learning experiences are accessible to the children both indoors and outdoors.

When our children leave Nursery to begin their schooling career, they will take with them a Learning Journal, which will detail their time with us at Dunchurch Nursery, including photographs, pieces of art work, observations and contributions from parents.  They will also be allowed time to visit their Reception class and to meet their new class teacher to ensure a smooth and settling transition into school.
